Coast Guard PFT Calculator
Check your readiness for the Coast Guard's first-ever service-wide Physical Fitness Test — mandatory for all able-bodied active duty and SELRES members starting 1 July 2026.
Why this is a pass/fail checker, not a point score
In Direct Access, each PFT event converts to a 45–100 point score and an overall grade of 1–7 — but the Coast Guard has not publicly released those point tables (they live in the CAC-gated PFT Guide). This checker uses the official published minimums from COMDTINST 16114.33F Table 4-3, the standards the PFT is built on. Note the unreleased PFT Guide uses finer age brackets than Table 4-3, so if you're close to a minimum, confirm your official score in Direct Access.

How the Coast Guard PFT Works
The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is the Coast Guard's first-ever service-wide fitness test, mandatory for all able-bodied active duty and SELRES members starting 1 July 2026 (ALCOAST 007/26). It is built on the Boat Crew Physical Fitness Test and consists of three events: maximum push-ups in 1 minute, a forearm plank held as long as possible (credited up to 3:24), and a cardio event of your choice — a 1.5-mile run, a 12-minute swim scored on distance covered, or a 2000-meter row.
Raw scores are entered into Direct Access, which converts each event to a 45–100 point score using age- and sex-normed tables and produces an overall grade from 1 to 7. Earning 45 points in an event is the minimum pass — and failing ANY single event fails the whole PFT, with no cross-event makeup (ALCOAST 082/26). This checker mirrors that rule: you must meet the official minimum in all three events to pass.

Program Rules You Should Know
Test cadence
Active duty and SELRES on long-term ADOS or EAD test twice per year, beginning 1 July 2026. Drilling SELRES take at least one PFT per calendar year. Future policy may allow one approved Community Fitness Test (e.g. AST, DSF, Divers, Boat Forces tests) to count for one of the two required PFTs — pending a future ALCOAST.
One consequence-free retest
Within 24 hours of failing an official PFT, you may request ONE consequence-free retest, taken at least 30 days after the failed attempt (ALCOAST 082/26).
If the retest is failed or declined
Probation, administrative remarks (Page 7 equivalent), possible withholding of advancement, promotion and frocking, assignment limitations (command cadre, special assignments, high-visibility billets), impacts to PCS and Reserve orders, and restrictions on resident training. You return to compliance by passing a subsequent PFT.
Pre-screening and weekly PT
All PFT takers must complete the Body Composition PFT Pre-Screening (Form CG-6120) and consult a medical officer or PCM if concerns exist. All Coast Guard military personnel must conduct physical training at least four days a week during the duty day unless medically restricted or precluded by mission (ALCOAST 007/26).
